Tourism in India has registered significant growth in recent years. In 1951, international tourist arrival stood at around 17 thousand only while the same has now gone up to 3.91 million in 2005. The upward trend is expected to remain firm in the coming years. Tourism is also one of the sectors, which employs the largest number of manpower. There has been a remarkable growth in recent years, in foreign tourist arrivals to India due to various efforts made, including promoting India through the " incredible India " campaign in overseas markets.
