The Psychology of Play Activities

Author: HARVEY C. LEHMAN , PAUL A WITTY

One of the great contributions of psychology to education has been emphasis upon individual differences. Through extended research, we have learned much regarding what to expect of children of various stages of development. The intelligence test and its educational corollary, the standardized educational test, have effected a more intelligent and satisfactory adjustment of the child to his school life. Differentiated education is the result of the recognition of the variability of human beings in mental ability and consequent educational attainment. The dissemination of knowledge regarding individual differences gleaned from intelligence tests has been a potent factor in effecting reorganization of school practices.
