Dictionary of Term In : Genetics

Author: R.L KNIGHT

The scope of Genetics is enormous in the present day. The present book  â€˜Dictionary of Terms in Genetic’ has been designed as a dictionary giving as many genetic terms as possible and defining them, sometimes giving elaborate meanings in the context of evolution, genetics, breeding, molecular genetics, eugenics, biotechnology, genetic engineering or recombinant DNA technology from a classical to modern sense of Genetics. It is a synthesis of genetics and evolution through technical terms which will be found at one place in one text here. For want of space diagrams are avoided; moreover this is not a text book for formal genetics students. Certain terms used in this book have far reaching conclusions in evolution closely related to genetics and eugenics. A formal knowledge of chemistry and biology is needed to understand the intricacies of the meanings. The book consists of four parts, viz., Part I, deals with genetic terms closely associated with evolution; Part II deals with terms from a molecular and cytogenetic point of view; and Parts III & IV deal with biotechnology and cloning which occupy a pivotal position in modern genetics. This book can be used as a reference and as an adjunct for the study of Genetics by all students of Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Medicine, Genetics, Pharmacy, Biotechnology, Immunology, Instrumentation, Biophysics and Biomedical Engineering. The author expresses his sincere thanks to M/s. Shri Sai Printographers for bringing out the book neatly and in a short time. He also expresses indebtedness to his family members for their patience and interest in the Book
