A Comprehensive Book on Solid Waste Management with Application

Solid waste management was considered till late 1990 a liability and a large land was wasted to take such a waste. Of late it was realized that if suitable design measures are adopted this can be a source of revenue generation. Keeping this aspect in view it was decided to develop alternative technologies and approach. It was realized that if suitable technology is adopted it can give a much better return. Keeping this aspect in mind not only simple technology like composting was used but in this place suitable land filling technology was adopted so that in turn it gives sufficient bio gas apart from it improves the quality of land where it is disposed. This not only save lot of land. The same land can be used as alternate to find a new land. This gives lot of organic manure which is much better than inorganic manure. Techniques like vermicomposting was developed which better quality manure. This resulted in developing a comprehensive approach to revisit the subject in introducing a comprehensive book on solid waste management. The book describes apart from conventional and non-conventional method of collection of such waste in a systematic manner but to adopt alternative management techniques which provides not only safe methods which provide great economy. Energy recover is another important dimension which also becomes part of the discussion. Biomedical waste collection is another tedious subject. This also has been thoroughly discuses emerging process and technologies is another important aspect without book would not have served its useful purpose. Another important dimension has been added by taking a suitable example through selection of a live sub project and thorough analysis has been solved. Another important aspect is to take live example of Timarpur, Okhla and Bhalswa plants and their weaknesses and salient features have been thoroughly discussed. Hence this comprehensive book would serve not only as a text book but to undertake new projects which would
